5 lessons I learnt during lockdown

We are finally starting to see things go back to normal and even with guidelines in place, it now feels a little more ‘normal’. Since a lot more places are now open I thought it would be a good idea to list some of the lessons I learnt during lockdown.

1. It’s ok to not do anything
Nowadays life is so busy that you get used to the constant buzz of everyday life, some people (like me) forget to make time to simply just relax and not do anything at all. I love being busy so much so that I used to make sure I am doing something everyday because I don’t like the thought of not having anything to do (I get bored very easily). However, I’ve learned that you don’t have to be doing something all the time and it’s fine to just have a few days of staying at home and doing nothing.

2. Down time is good
You don’t have to be constantly busy to feel as though you have your life together, you can have down time and still be smashing life. I definitely realised this during lockdown, having time to yourself to think and reflect is so important to your success and well being.

3. Don’t be so hard on yourself
Be kind – society tells you to be kind to everyone else so why shouldn’t we be kind to ourselves! I am the biggest self critic, I can’t even help it but naturally I am quite a critical person and I’m still learning to curb this bad habit.

4.Everything is temporary
Situations are temporary, good and bad ones. Life changes so quickly and sometimes things happen which are out of your control, a good example of this has been a worldwide pandemic, living in lockdown and being told you’re going to be furloughed. Even though it’s so frustrating at the time (everything being out of your hands) but it’s temporary. We will come out of it one day and life will be back to normal, embrace the temporary as it doesn’t last forever.

5. Do more of what you love
If you only had one day to live – what would you do? Be in nature? Go for food? Travel somewhere? Spend time with a loved one?. Whatever the answer is, spend more time doing that exact thing. If there’s anything that this year has taught me is that sometimes life doesn’t go how you want it to and it changes so quickly, you never truly know what’s around the corner so live life to the fullest with no regrets.

I hope you all enjoyed this post, thank you so much for reading. Let me know in the comments below some things you learnt during lockdown, I would love to hear your thoughts!

See you in the next one!
